The mine field of Menopause…

For those of us of a certain age and gender there is no escaping the process of Menopause! If like me you are interested in alternative more natural ways of combating the aging process this episode from the ‘Keto Diet Podcast’ is brilliant!

I literally stumbled across this Podcast a few days ago and have been hooked on the quality of content and as always love to pass on where I can to those that are interested.

This is an Interview with Dr. Reiss Uzzi, author of Natural Superwoman and specialist in hormone balancing, nutrition and mind/body principles. He discusses the difference between bio-identical hormone replacement therapy and hormone replacement therapy, benefits of DHEA supplementation, adrenal support protocols, natural birth control options, overcoming amenorrhea, and more.

How can Pilates help…

Thank goodness for Pilates! For me over the last year my job has helped me manage some of my symptoms and given me overall well-being. Here are some ways that Pilates can be helpful during menopause:

1.Core Strength and Stability: Pilates focuses on strengthening the core muscles, including the abdominal, back, and pelvic floor muscles. This can be particularly beneficial during menopause, as hormonal changes can contribute to a loss of muscle tone and stability. Strengthening the core can help support the spine, improve posture, and enhance overall stability.

2. Bone Health: Menopause is associated with a decline in estrogen levels, which can lead to a loss of bone density and an increased risk of osteoporosis. Weight-bearing exercises like Pilates can help improve bone health by stimulating bone remodeling and strengthening the skeletal system.

3. Joint Mobility and Flexibility: Hormonal changes during menopause can also affect joint health and flexibility. Pilates exercises emphasize controlled movements and elongation of muscles, which can help improve joint mobility and flexibility, reducing the risk of stiffness and discomfort.

4. Stress Reduction: Menopause can bring about physical discomfort, mood swings, and increased stress levels. Pilates incorporates mindful breathing techniques and promotes relaxation, helping to reduce stress and enhance overall mental well-being.

5. Body Awareness and Confidence: Menopause often brings changes in body shape and weight distribution. Pilates encourages body awareness, mindfulness, and acceptance, helping women feel more connected to their bodies and boosting self-confidence.
