My Journey

  

I was late to discover Pilates and came to it as a form of exercise that could help me relax from my day time job as a Primary School teacher.  Within a few months I was absolutely hooked and before long was taking regular classes 3 times a week at my local gym.   This form of exercise really ignited those 'happy hormones' for me.  The whole body, mind workout just ticked all the boxes and gave me the overall sense of well being and calm that was very much needed.  


Having worked in mainstream education for over 23 years I decided it was time for a career change and so after training with HFE early in 2019- I  said good bye to classroom teaching and jumped straight in to creating my business Mypilatesflow! 


In January 2020, I qualified as an Exercise Referral 

Specialist with Active iQ and am now able to offer Pilates instruction to those that need an individualised programme.  In April 2021 I gained my Level 4 certificate in Physical Activity and Lifestyle Strategies for Managing Low Back Pain.  This was also with Active iQ.  If you wish to have an individualised programme to work towards then I am only too happy to assist!  Please get in touch, to chat through your Pilates needs.


My approach to delivering classic mat classes stems very much from keeping to a standardised devised framework.  Each session begins with a full body posture/alignment check followed by a thorough head to toe opening phase.  Each week the main phase of the lesson is altered covering over a 6 week period all foundation exercises.  The last ten minutes of each class is dedicated to re mobilising my clients for the rest of their day/evening.  All Clients have the opportunity of creating an account to view the private pages 'At Home' and 'Class Exercises'.  I devised this online resource so that clients can  continue working outside of the classes if they wish to.


Clients are taught within each class how to use their lateral breath, activate their core and find neutral pelvis and spine.


My home studio is based in Steventon, Oxfordshire where I offer 121 instruction and monthly Workshop sessions.

My Public classes are based in Didcot.  When I am not teaching I am busy creating new designs for my online store, which currently sells a range of Pilates clothing as well as support cushions and mats.


I believe it is never too late to learn a new skill so whatever your age 16+ why not give this form of exercise a go!  Check out my testimonial page and see what others think...
